I'm working at the intersection of datavisualization, illustration and visual storytelling to turn your dense and complicated content into visual narratives that your audience understands and loves to read (and you too).
I team up with agencies, foundations, newspapers, NGOs and more to create work on topics that matter to me: science, the environment, society. The kind of topics I love to read and learn about.
I speak French (very very well, it's my mothertongue), German (very well) and English (only well). 8 years in Berlin do that to you. The cold and dark winters eventually sent me back home to Nantes, France, where I also share my passion for design as a teacher at l'École de Design Nantes Atlantique.
Maybe we'll work together on your next project?

"I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Charlotte on multiple data storytelling microsites, and have been so impressed by her ability to seamlessly collaborate with others on creative problem solving and design."
Marisa Asari
Lead Designer at Dataculture

"When creating infographics, instead of choosing the obvious solution, Charlotte hones her sketches and ideas further; resulting in elevated visualisations that break the mould while remaining clear and legible."
Kaspar Manz
Graphic Team Lead at NZZ

"Charlotte knows to ask the right questions in order to quickly understand the main message of a scientific story. Reducing to the max she translates complex content into graspable visualizations."
Eveline Geiser
Neuroscientist and Lecturer, Unil
Science writer and Journalist, NZZ

"We would like to thank you warmly for the quality of your work, your responsiveness, your support and your availability throughout this collaboration. We are completely satisfied with the final result and have already received very positive feedback from our partners."
Ilaria Fagone
Cultural Officer at the Institut français du Luxembourg

"The report was incredibly helpful for the presentation and the client really appreciated how clear and engaging it was. It’s such a gift to see this vision come to life. Thank you for your care in bringing it forward!"

A little more information
When should I reach out?
You have a project, the rough outlines of your content, a rough idea of a budget? It’s the perfect time to reach out. We can discuss the possibilities and the complexity of your project together and tailor our collaboration to your very specific needs.
What happens after I reached out?
I'll get back to you within 48 hours to plan a meeting (30 min.) so that we talk about your needs and define the scope of work together. From this I will send you a detailed quote with a timeline and milestones specifically addressed to your project.
How long does a project take?
That depends on your needs, my availabilities and your responsiveness when I need feedback from you. Simple visuals can take less than a week. Speed for reports and layout rely on the final format and how far we need to go in the review of your content. Plan at a minimum 1-2 weeks but it can go up to 4-6 weeks depending on the complexity of your project.
What's your process?
Most projects unfold with the following steps: 1. Reviewing ordering content (making sure the project has solid bases) 2. Research and discovery (gathering inspiration and creative axes) 3. Concept development (working on low-fi sketches that match final output) 4. Refining and coloring (high-fi sketches) 5. Implementing last details and finalising the project.
Why do you include reviewing and ordering content?
We check that your content is coherent and consistent, to ensure the project serves your goals and strategy. During this phase we might see that some elements need to be modified, removed or added. This phase is important as it is a solid base to work from for the rest of the project.
How do we work together?
I work closely with my clients to ensure projects run smoothly. Steps with actions required from you or me are defined from the beginning. They are reminded in our common Notion space which you'll get access to before starting the project. And I'll add you to my Slack for smoother communication.
What influences the price?
The price varies according to the complexity of a project: number of pages, simple or complex creative options, creative identity already available, how far you’re in the project, etc. According to the project and formula you choose we can discuss payment options that work for you.
Do you offer other services than the ones displayed?
Yes, under certain conditions only. Reach out for more information.
